Large-format gantry CNC milling machine
The SG-XXL is the largest gantry CNC milling machine in the BERMAQ SG line: a 5-axis machining centre designed for high-speed milling of polystyrene, wood, resins and composites in very large parts.
Its overhead guidance concept and modular structure turn the entire space beneath the bridge into working area. It is the benchmark machine for producing patterns and moulds and for trimming parts in the marine, aeronautical, railway, wind energy and set design sectors.

The SG-XXL takes over where conventional milling machines fall short: hulls, blades, moulds and figures several metres long that must be machined in one piece with 5-axis accuracy.
Marine: milling of hulls and moulds, production of marine furniture, decks and pontoons.
Aeronautics and aerospace: machining of composites, aluminium parts and structural components.
Railway: aluminium profiles and trimming of interior furniture for coaches and wagons.

Technology of the SG-XXL milling machine
5-axis head for polystyrene or high-speed milling
The SG-XXL accepts different milling units depending on the material: dedicated polystyrene units or a high-speed unit for wood, resins and composites. The 24 kW milling motor runs at a nominal 10,000 rpm and reaches 24,000 rpm, with a C axis of +/-220º and an A axis of +/-110º to machine complex surfaces from any angle.
Telescopic Z axis for patterns more than two metres high
The telescopic Z axis is designed for heights above 2 metres, so a single cycle can handle volumes that previously required splitting the pattern into several sections and joining them afterwards.
100 m/min feed rates and a linear changer for up to 24 tools
The X and Y axes travel at 100 m/min and the Z axes at 25 m/min, sharply reducing idle time on long travels. The linear tool changer, with 8 to 24 positions, and a choice of SIEMENS, HEIDENHAIN or FANUC CNC make it possible to chain roughing and finishing without operator intervention. Automatic lubrication protects the axes during long working shifts.

Overhead guidance: the full span becomes working area
The moving bridge travels on side columns, with no lower bed to restrict the part. This gantry architecture and its modular structure allow the machine to be sized to the project and to work directly on the workshop floor.
Dual anti-backlash servomotors for a wide-span gantry
The anti-backlash system with dual servomotors ensures bidirectional accuracy of +/-0.05 mm and repeatability of +/-0.02 mm, even with the bridge working at its maximum width.
Walkways and ladders for safe maintenance at height
Ergonomic ladders and walkways integrated at the top give direct, safe access to all the key components of the moving bridge.

The SG-XXL within the BERMAQ SG line
The SG line brings together BERMAQ's gantry milling machines. While models such as the SG-A prioritise accuracy with linear encoders in more compact formats, the SG-XXL is built for size: widths of up to 10,000 mm, a telescopic Z axis and 100 m/min feed rates. It is the logical choice when part size is the main constraint of the process.
Ideal for shipyards, mould makers and set design workshops
Companies producing hulls, wind turbine blades, full-scale mock-ups or giant scenery cut out process stages: a single machine produces the pattern, the mould and the final trim, without subcontracting or splitting parts.
Manufactured by BERMAQ with specialised technical support
The SG-XXL is manufactured entirely in Spain with EU parts, built piece by piece by BERMAQ technicians, and undergoes accuracy checks in accordance with ISO 230-2:2014. The after-sales department provides constant, personalised service, with a network of specialised technicians, operator training, a stock of original spare parts and optional preventive maintenance contracts to extend the machine's service life.
